April 2025

Historically, the month of April is the busiest month of the Spring semester for the CARE Team. The semester end is nearing, and student stress levels are rising. With finals and graduation only a few weeks away, students are more open to meeting with the CARE Team to receive supports in order to finish their semester strong, or in an attempt to recover their semester. CARE Team worked with 102 students in the month of April whose top concerns were:

  1. Direct statements of distress
  2. Expressions of hopelessness
  3. Deterioration of the quality of coursework

46% of students were seeking mental health supports and were referred to Counseling and Psychological Services. 31% were referred to their Success Coach due to academic concerns and study skills. While 17% being referred to Student Health Services for illness, injury, or student insurance questions. Top off-campus referrals include Comcare Crisis Center, United Way, and domestic violence/sexual violence resources. With the spring semester coming to an end, we can assume there will be a decrease in reports for the month of May but will see common concerns as the stress of finals and move out will be present.
